My first day volunteering at J.N. “Ding” Darling was Earth Day. There were numerous activities planned. C.R.O.W. (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) released an Bald Eagle, who had been in C.R.O.W.’s care for two weeks due to a laceration on his leg and chest.
I also participated in a Mindfulness Walk at the Bailey Tract the morning and in the afternoon I tagged along in the afternoon on a Junior Ranger Nature walk with students from the elementary school. I observed (helped with crowd control) as Racheal Pierce the Artist in Residence taught a class on painting a Roseate Spoonbill. I also attended a nature walk, where I learned about the local plants and the history of Bailey Tract.
