On the road again…

Day two, 198 miles to  Hill RV Park in Plankinton, SD. When planning this trip we intentionally tried to stay around 200 miles a day.

On our trip from Georgia to Wisconsin, we planned on 300 mile drives and we found the extra 100 miles was a little too long. So, instead of going 300 to 400 miles and staying at least 2 nights at each campsite, we are going around 200 miles. Sometimes we are staying 1 night and other times a week or more.

The drive down I-90 was uneventful. We did manage one stop at the Corn Palace in Mitchel.  As many times as we have driven by we have never stopped until today. I was surprised the palace wasn’t what I imagined.  I thought the whole building was built of corn and had stood the same for many years.

Turns out just the murals are made of corn and they change them yearly. They were in the process of redoing the walls and I discovered the murals are like a giant paint by numbers. Or maybe it’s more accurate to say a giant corn by color.

I also didn’t know the Corn Palace is dog friendly. Stella was not impressed.

80 degrees in Mitchell, SD and the person who spent more than 50 years living in Minnesota – is still trying to get warm.
